February release set for Battleborn

2K Games has confirmed an early 2015 release date for FPS title Battleborn.

The Gearbox title will arrive on PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 9th, with an open beta to take place at some stage beforehand.

The company has also revealed four new characters – Ambra, Mellka, Reyna and Benedict. In all the MOBA-style shooter will have 25 playable heroes from which players can choose for the 5v5 matches.

"If Borderlands 2 is a shooter-looter, Battleborn is a hero-shooter," Gearbox president Randy Pitchford said in July. "As a genre-fused, hobby-grade, co-operative and competitive FPS exploding with eye-popping style and an imaginative universe, Battleborn is the most ambitious video game that Gearbox has ever created."
