Final Fantasy VII remake rumoured, again

A remake of Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation 4 is once again apparently in the works.

That’s according to Siliconera, who claims to have a learnt that a remake is in development to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1997 title. Of course, this means the game – if real – won’t be out for another two years.

Note that since Square Enix showed off a tech demo showing the intro of the classic Final Fantasy game running on PS3 hardware back at E3 2005 there have been more or less constant rumours – and fan boy yearning – for a Final Fantasy VII remake.

Square also teased that Final Fantasy VII was coming to the PS4 at last year’s PlayStation Experience event, but this turned out to be the HD update of the original 1997 release for PS4. The same release that came to PC in 2013.

Not to say that a remake may never happen – and the fact that Square Enix has its own conference at this year’s E3,so must have some big news in the pipeline.
