Future of Oculus event livestream today at 6pm BST

Oculus is holding a special press event in San Francisco at 6pm BST today.

The virtual reality firm will discuss the future of VR, the Oculus Rift and more. It is expected to show off the consumer edition of the Oculus Rift during the event. Images have already been leaked, though it has been claimed they are of older models and do not represent the finished product.

You can watch the event through a livestream on the Oculus website or through its Twitch page.

Oculus has been steadily teasing fresh details about its Rift headset during the last month in the build up to E3 and its special press event. It has announced that it will open sales for the headset later this year, with a view to shipping in Q1 2016.

Recommended computer specs for the consumer version of the Rift were revealed last month. It will require:

• NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
• Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
• 8GB+ RAM
• Windows 7 SP1 or newer
• 2x USB 3.0 ports
• HDMI 1.3 video output supporting a 297MHz clock via a direct output architecture
