Crowdfunding website raises $320 million in total with over 18,000 projects funded

Games amassed $83 million on Kickstarter in 2012

Kickstarter has put together and released an annual report revealing several key figures hit by the crowdfunding site during 2012.

The site saw more than 2.2m people donate nearly $320m total, with over 18,000 projects successfully reaching or exceeding their goal.

It was, as you might expect, a banner year for games. The medium had by far the most money pledged out of all the categories on the site. Game projects (which include both video and tabletop games) specifically saw 1,378,144 users pledge $83,144,565 to 2,796 campaigns – 911 of which were successful.

It’s also noteworthy that while only two countries (US and UK) are currently able to start Kickstarter projects, donations from 177 countries were tallied during the period.
