GamesBeat EIC Dan Hsu moving on from games media

Games journalist Dan Shoe” Hsu has announced he’ll be stepping down as Games Beat editor-in-chief to take on a new challenge outside of games media.

Hsu revealed his imminent departure on a GamesBeat article posted earlier today – the industry vet of nearly two decades previously served as head of operations at Bitmob, editor-in-chief of Electronic Gaming Monthly and editorial director of 1UP.com; as well as working jobs at Gamers.com and G4.

Hsu could not specify what he’ll be doing next in the games industry, stating that he simply received a great opportunity and offer” from a company that had its own announcement plans.

"It made me realize that this is as good a time as any in my life to make such a big change… I want to grow and learn new things in the industry that I love, and this new company is offering me a chance to experience ‘the other side,’” Hsu wrote.

I can’t, however, reveal what I’m doing at this point – the company for whom I’ll be working has its own plans for announcing my hire.”
