DirectX 11 support in the Unreal Engine 3 to be shown at California conference

GDC11: UE3 DX11 capabilities unveiled

DirectX 11 support in Epic Games’ popular Unreal Engine 3 will be shown off by the studio and technology partner Nvidia at GDC 2011 in San Francisco this week.

The engine now features DX11 tessellation, as well as support for Nvidia PhysX, Apex and 3D Vision tech.

An Unreal Engine 3 demo will be shown at GDC representing what Epic has called its ‘proposal for what the next generation of gaming will look like’.

“Thanks to Nvidia’s excellent cross-platform physics technologies and DX11 expertise, we have enhanced Unreal Engine 3 to bring unprecedented new levels of realism and demonstrate what the next generation of gaming will be,” said Epic Games VP Mark Rein.

Nvidia general manager of GPU business Drew Henry echoed the sentiment, saying: “Unreal Engine 3 continues to amaze us and represents a general leap in gaming.”

“With the addition of our PhysX, Apex and 3D Vision technologies, it will deliver unprecedented, high-end visual experiences for gamers. We can’t wait to play the games that Unreal Engine 3 will power in the future.”
