Gears of War 3 escapes German censors

Microsoft and Epic Games’ upcoming Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War 3 has remarkably survived its brush with the German content regulators and will release in full and unedited in the country.

Germany his a reputation for ruthlessly cracking down on violent content in video games and has forced many publishers to make alterations and omissions from their games in the past.

Eurogamer reports that the game released in Germany will be exactly the same as that hitting other territories such as the UK.

Microsoft didn’t even attempt to publish the first two games in the series in the territory. Retailers who chose to import PEGI-rated Euro version were permitted to sell them to adults who specifically requested them, but all advertising or marketing was banned.
