Former development director for publisher oversaw the creation of Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons and DC Comics MMOs

Goodgame chief Böni replaced by Warner Bros’ William Corey Barnard

Free-to-play developer Goodgame Studios has taken on a Warner Bros veteran as its new studio head.

William Corey Barnard replaces outgoing exec Michael Böni, who is leaving to purse another role in the industry.

Barnard previously headed up a number of licensed MMO titles as development director at Warner Bros, including Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online and DC Comics tie-in Infinite Crisis.

Before that, he worked on the Need for Speed franchise at EA and held roles in the world of animation.

Currently known for a range of eponymous free-to-play efforts, such as Goodgame Empire, Goodgame Bif Farm and Goodgame Galaxy, Goodgame Studios said that Barnard would focus specifically on expanding the firm’s reach outside of the casual sector with a brand new PC title.

"In his role, Corey will be providing vision, strategy and leadership to this autonomous, dedicated core-gaming development team,” Goodgame said in a statement.
