Halo franchise hits 50m units sold

Microsoft has announced its Halo franchise has hit 50m lifetime sales.

The series had sold 46m units heading into the launch of Halo 4, meaning the latest installment has moved roughly 4m copies so far. The first Bungie-less game in the saga made $220m on launch day.

Additionally, 343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor has told CVG that the team is currently prototyping ideas, software, and art for the next Halo title.

I can’t say more than that, but work on the game started actually before we launched Halo 4 and continues apace as we cycle staff through the team’s vacation breaks,” O’Connor said. We’re excited about the next game.”
