Hamburg games studio Sviper raises second funding round

Hamburg mobile games outfit Sviper has raised a second round of funding, with seed funding from Rocket Internet’s venture capital arm Global Founders Capital. The company are focussing on simple, skill-based games with deep player progression.

"The first big investment in Sviper comes with perfect timing," said Schaperin a statement. "It enables us to start building a portfolio of unique high-quality games. With this financial backing, we will hire top talent and are in the best position to capitalise on the industry’s huge potential."

Sviper was founded by Ole Schaper, Mark Buchholz and Stephen Reichert, bringing experience from studios like Goodgame, Innogames and Bigpoint to the table. Their first game, Wild City Rush, will be coming to iOS and Android before the end of November, and the funding Sviper raised is going to be used to help market that game, put together a second one, but also recruit key staff to ensure the studio’s survival.
