Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro to speak on artistic vision at DICE

Former Silent Hills collaborators Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro will reunite once again to discuss their creative processes.

The Metal Gear Solid creator and film director behind Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim will talk during this year’s DICE Summit.

The keynote address, titled ‘A Conversation with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’, will be moderated by The Games Awards host Geoff Keighley and take place on the Thursday afternoon of the February 16th to 18th event.

In the announcement of the talk, DICE said that the pair “will revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers, as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other’s work that remain a constant source of inspiration”. Expect plenty of David Bowie discussion from Kojima, then.

The Thursday morning of the show will see Bethesda executive producer and director Todd Howard discuss The Art of Engagement with comedian Pete Holmes, examining the open-world storytelling and design used in titles such as Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

Silent Hills was cancelled last year by Konami, following the release of playable teaser PT on PS4.

After a year of rumours surround his departure, Kojima exited Konami in December, before announcing a new studio, Kojima Productions, and an untitled new game being developed in collaboration with PlayStation.

As previously revealed, the iconic game designer auter will also be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame during this year’s DICE Awards.
