Eidos co-founder joins consortium of industry veterans to bolster the UKâ??s position as a global hub in the creative industries

Ian Livingstone joins Tory review body

The Conservative Party has assembled a consortium of industry luminaries –including Eidos’ Ian Livingstone – to help establish the party’s review body of the creative industries.

Former BBC director general Greg Dyke has been announced as chair of the review, adding to a group which will also include Ashley Highfield, the Consumer & Online UK managing director of Microsoft.

Ex-Sky executive Elisabeth Murdoch will join the team, as well as Carphone Warehouse’s Charles Dunstone, Kip Meek (board member of Ingenious Media) and Alex Hope, managing director of visual effects group Double Negative.

The review will examine how the government can ensure the UK remains a global hub for content creation and distribution. The body also seeks to measure how creative industries can lead Britain out of recession.

Shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt said that with “with music, film, video games and TV industries in the top three worldwide, now is the chance to turn Britain into the world’s creative and digital hub."

Ex BBC director general Greg Dyke adds that the review has "brought together an impressive group of people from different creative industries who will bring their own particular knowledge to the task force."
