Indie action RPG Dust: An Elysian Tail clears 1m sales

Action RPG Dust: An Elysian Tail has surpassed one million sales, the game’s creator has confirmed.

Created by independent designer Dean Dodrill of Humble Hearts, the game was first released on XLBA in August 2012 and received a strong critical reception.

“Today, Dust: AET surpassed one million units sold. Thank you to @xbox, @steam_games, & @humble for their support in helping us get here!” tweeted Dodrill.

Responding to one comment, Dodrill also said that he’s “considering something small before I jump into my next big game, just to test the tech waters”.

Since its release on XLBA, Dust: AET has also been made available on PC and later for Mac and Linux. Dodrill said that one per cent of the sales came on the latter format.

The title had originally been planned for release on the Xbox 360 Indie Games channel, but after Dodrill won Microsoft’s 2009 Dream.Build.Play Challenge, it was granted a contract for an Xbox Live Arcade release.
