Rage developer still hiring while others are let go

Jobs cut as Id Software recycles staff

Texas studio Id Software has made an unspecified number of its staff redundant as part of a post-project reshuffle, the group’s publishing partner has announced.

Developers have been let go at the Rage studio, though the group is still hiring for several roles.

"As part of its standard business practice, Id regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio,” Bethesda’s VP of marketing and PR, Pete Hines, told Gamasutra.

“As part of that process, some Id employees were recently let go. Id is still recruiting and hiring qualified developers, and development work on future Id titles continues unabated.”

The staff shuffle comes weeks after rumours emerged that Id Software’s Doom 4 project had been scrapped.
