Kalypso swoops for IP and forms new studio

Publisher Kalypso has revealed that it has acquired the Tropico 3 IP from Take Two and launched brand new development studio Realmforge Studios.

Kalypso has secured the rights to Tropico 3 from Take Two, and confirmed that a third iteration of the PC strategy games series is set for release in summer next year.

Tropico 3, developed by Haemimont Games, is just the beginning of Kalyspo’s plans, according to the firm.

Meanwhile the publisher has also teamed up with developer Boxed Dreams to form Realmforge Studios in Munich.

The first title out of the studio doors will be PC title Ceville, set for release next February. Kalypso plans to double the size of the studio in 2009 and forms part of the firms plans for future growth in the games space.
