$185m pledged to video games since crowdfunding platform began

Kickstarter game campaigns surpass $500m

Kickstarter has released updated stats on the money its users have raised over the years, and the games category has passed a major milestone.

More than $500m has been pledged to projects in this section of the site, which encompasses tabletop and board games, video games, as well as the enigmatic “Other” sub-category.

Tabletop actually leads the way, accounting for $265m of the money, while video games projects have raised $185m.

More than 8,000 games projects have reached or surpassed their funding goals, thanks to the help of over 2m backers.

Kickstarter’s UK arm recently announced that it has raised £100m since 2012 – with the Dark Souls board game bringing the site past this milestone.
