Killer Instinct trademark renewed by Microsoft

Rare’s fighting franchise Killer Instinct could be back from the dead.

Microsoft renewed the IP’s trademark last week; and while they’re not hiding that fact, there’s not a whole lot the company is saying at this point.

"We have either renewed or refiled a trademark application in various jurisdictions,” Microsoft stated to PlayXBLA in regards to the series.

I’d venture a guess that digital releases for older titles in the franchise are the more likely possibility over the resurrection of the currently canned Killer Instinct 3. That’s if the trademark even amounts to anything beyond standard protection of property.
