Kojima launches ‘HideoTube’ YouTube channel

Free as a bird and without a care in the world, liberated developer Hideo Kojima has launched his own YouTube channel.

It’s called HideoTube. The first episode, perhaps unsurprisingly, looks at the Metal Gear Solid creator’s favourite 10 films of 2015. Also present is Kenji Yano, who has worked with Kojima in the past and specialises in translation.

I am here at ‘YouTube Space Tokyo’. This is my first time here at YouTube,” Kojima says, although be warned – it’s a Japanese language video. And for us the captioning was kind of spotty. Therefore I started something called HideoTube. To celebrate the start of this channel, we made a Top Ten movies of 2015.”

When asked by Yano whether the channel is a long-term project, Kojima replied: That’s right. I want to do regular updates here.”

Featuring on Kojima’s list are the likes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Straight Outta Compton and Kingsman. Oh, and Shaun the Sheep. That was sixth!

Both Kojima and Yaho named Mad Max: Fury Road as their top film of the year, which will come as little surprise if you follow Kojima on Twitter.

Here’s the first episode:
