'We plan to open a studio in California if we can find the right people', claims senior producer

Kojima ponders expansion into the West

Kojima Productions is planning on opening a new studio in California, a senior producer at the developer has claimed.

Kenichiro Imaizumi confirmed the potential move on Twitter, but only if the it can find the right staff.

“Regarding Brand Manager position, you’ll need Japanese skill. Yes, we plan to open a studio in CA. IF we can find the right people,” he said.

The confirmation came after Konami released a job listing that revealed the developer is hiring project engineers for the “latest Metal Gear Solid targeted for high-end consoles and PC”, with roles advertised for Japan and California.

The studio stated it was also on the lookout for engineers to “help develop next-gen game engine technology for use with the FOX Engine".

Other roles include senior gameplay programmers, audio programmer and concept and character artists.

Konami will have its own booth, number 1914, in the career pavilion at next month’s GDC to talk to those interested in the jobs.
