The firing of Hideo Kojima was to blame for the recent fallout between the Metal Gear Solid creator and publisher Konami.
That’s according to voice actress Donna Burke, who provided the voice for iDroid in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Videogamer reports.
Don’t throw away the Kojima teams work over the last five years because upper management fired a genius,” Burke said on Twitter, having retweeted a call from the Japanese voice of Solid Snake Akio Otsuka for fans not to boycott MGSV over the recent turbulence.
When asked to confirm Kojima’s firing, Burke replied: Yes but it’s been out in the media for weeks… but it’s true.”
Konami, however, has told Videogamer that the claim Kojima was fired are"categorically incorrect".
Burke also added that the game’s marketing budget, which you would expect to be extensive, may be curtailed: The game is still fantastic. I think the budget for promoting it won’t be there – so no me singing live.”
All signs seem to point to Kojima’s departure from Konami following the release of MGSV in September. It is understood that he currently working on the game on a contract basis.
