As part of its
third quarter financial statement
, US publisher Activision also confirmed that a new instalment to its Call of Duty series will be with us in fiscal 2009 – in other words between April this year and March next.
Furthermore, the next game will also be released on Nintendo’s Wii and Sony’s PS2 – as well as on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Activision’s latest instalment in the series, Call of Duty 4, was the top-selling game in 2007, becoming both a critical and commercial success.
It’s not known whether the next title will be called Call of Duty 5, or whether it will instead be a series spin-off. It’s also not known whether it will retain COD4’s present-day setting or instead favour a return to series’ World War roots (as has been rumoured).
