New European boss for Activision

Activision has named Philip Earl as the executive vice president of Activision’s International business.

He will lead the sales and publishing operations for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Japan.

He replaces Steven Young, who was senior vice president of Europe. Young has been promoted to chief revenue office and executive vice president for Activision Publishing and will be based at the company’s Santa Monica HQ.

Earl joined Activision in 2008, and has held positions including senior VP for Asia Pacific and executive VP and general manager of Activision Publishing.

He will operate out of Activision’s new Ditton Park office in the UK.

"The international group is critical to our continued profitable growth plans and we’re delighted to have a seasoned industry executive of Philip’s caliber assume this important role," said Steven Young.

"Hisextensive experience will be a tremendous asset as we take advantage of the global market opportunities afforded by our triple-A franchises and he will be instrumental in driving our continued leadership on console, PC and mobile platforms. With Philip in place leading our talented teams, I’m confident that we will continue to grow our market leadership position around the world.”
