First Edition units sold out

New ZX Spectrum hits £100k funding target within two days

The new Sinclair Spectrum Vega has already surpassed its £100,000 crowdfunding target to put the tiny computer in production.

The £100 system, launched by Sir Clive Sinclair and Luton-based firm Retro Computers, comes loaded with 1,000 games and its creators claim it will also run all 14,000 ZX Spectrum titles, some of which will be made available for download free of charge.

The Indiegogo campaign only began on Monday but the computer has already caught the public’s affection and sold each of its 1,000 limited edition First Edition units.

Backers of the £50 tier can now put their names down for the priority waiting list for the Second Limited Edition production run which will be limited to 3,000 units.

A full retail launch of the system is expected before the end of 2015.
