Now Forza gets a Porsche deal, too

Hot on the heels of the confirmation that Porsche will feature in upcoming PS4 racer Gran Turismo Sport, developer Turn 10 has now confirmed the brand’s inclusion in the Forza series.

The Microsoft studio has agreed a six-year deal to collaborate on a suite of co-branded initiatives for Porsche and the Forza franchise”, although presumably yesterday’s GT Sport news suggests that this partnership does not extend to game exclusivity.

We entered this premium partnership with Porsche as a result of their shared passion for sports cars and motorsport,” studio head Alan Hartman said. Porsche has a rich history of motorsport which combined with Turn 10’s unrivalled position in digital racing entertainment has formed the basis for a new and exciting form of seamlessly integrated racing entertainment

The partners are working to develop and launch new ways to combine driving experiences, racing schools, and dominant motorsport successes with Forza’s regular cadence of high-quality game experiences, content, and events.”

Porsche sales and marketing board member Detlev von Platen added: By having Microsoft as our partner, we have the opportunity to take the pleasure of driving a Porsche and making it an experience in the virtual world.

Racing games and eSports connect the real and virtual worlds and enable us to gain further access to the young target group. It means that they can develop a passion for Porsche even before buying their first sports car”.

As part of the deal, Forza Horizon 3 players can now buy a Porsche car pack that adds seven vehicles to the game, including the 1960 718 RS 60 and 2016 911 GT3 RS.

Porsche exited a long-standing video games licensing agreement with EA late last year.
