Overwatch post-launch content to be free of charge

Blizzard says that heroes and maps coming to its team shooter Overwatch after the game is out will be entirely free.

In a video on the Overwatch YouTube channel (below), game director Jeff Kaplan addressed questions from the title’s community, specifically how the developer would be approaching post-release content.

Kaplan says that he doesn’t know how soon after launch extra content will be released, but says there is definitely plans to bring this goodness out.

Overwatch was announced in November 2014 for PC, and this November it was revealed that the game would be hitting PlayStation 4and Xbox One.

Blizzard has confirmed that the release is not going to be free-to-play unlike some of its other competitive games, namely Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.
