Oxygen makes move into US

Ambitious UK publisher Oxygen has confirmed it is to set up a US office to handle its sales, first party and developer relations in the region – as revealed by MCV in September.

The Northern Californian based operation will be headed up by experienced industry staff, such as former Sony Computer Entertainment of America man David Bruno, Nathanael Walling who previously worked for Red Mile Entertainment and news website Game Almighty, and Doug Kennedy who previously worked with Red Octane and Ignition.

To meet the revenue potential of our games and thus our growth plans, we need to participate more substantially in North America than ever before,” Jim Scott, CEO of Oxygen Games told MCV. Establishing Oxygen Games USA brings us closer to our sales and marketing partners and will ultimately help us maximise our opportunities.”

Installing the new US office is the latest move in the publisher’s wider plans to become more established in the worldwide arena.

We plan to be a serious global contender,” continued Scott. Operationally, this means deploying an infrastructure appropriate to support our partners, communicate to consumers and ensure we have the relationships with talented content creators. For the foreseeable future, we’ll strategically place staff on the ground to raise our partner support, build-out developer relationships and gather consumer insight.”
