Rare’s Henson becomes new Lionhead boss

Industry verteran Scott Henson has been named as the new head of operations at Fable studio Lionhead.

Announced by Microsoft EMEA corporate VP Phil Harrison during a press event, Henson will take the reigns from Mark Webley, who had led the studio during the interim period following Peter Molyneux’s departure.

Most recently working as studio manager at UK developer Rare since October 2010, Henson has held various roles at Microsoft for the last 18 years.

Starting out in developer relations, the veteran has also served as technical lead at sidewalk.com and senior studio director for Xbox design, where he was responsible for the hardware and software design teams that created the 2010 lineup for Xbox 360 and Kinect.

Henson’s appointment as studio head follows a number of layoffs at the developer in October last year after Kinect title Fable: The Journey struggled both critically and commercially.
