Revenues down at Tecmo Koei

The year ending March 31st saw a fall in both sales and profits for Japanese publisher Koei Tecmo.

Sales hit $380m, though this was 13.8 per cent down on the same period the year before. Profits fell by over $2m to $29m. The numbers are higher than the revised predictions issued by the publisher but still below the forecasts issued this time last year.

Its biggest software success came in the form of Xbox 360 title Fist of the North Star, which shipped 500k units in its first two days on sale and has continued to sell strongly. PS3 title Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 shipped just under 500k copies.

Less notable performers include Sengoku Musou 3 for the Nintendo Wii, sales of which were simply said to be below 500k. The company also saw several key titles, including the Western-orientated Quantum theory, delayed.

In total, 5.77m games from the publisher were sold in the period.

A sales increase of 5.9 per cent is expected in the coming year, with profits expected to climb by 34.4 per cent.
