Rory Donnelly departs THQ

Rory Donnelly is the latest high-profile departure from THQ.

He was a THQ veteran, having joined the firm in 1999 as MD for France. His most recent role was SVP of European publishing. He has been instrumental in growing THQ’s Southern European business.

A company statement read: THQ confirms that as a result of the recent global restructuring, the SVP of European Publishing role has been eliminated to create a more streamlined European organization. As a result of this decision, Rory Donnelly will be leaving the company effective May 10. We wish Rory well in his future endeavors and we thank him for his 12 years of service to the company.”

It has been a tough few months for THQ. The firm suffered from the poor performance of its uDraw tablet, which has caused a global restructuring of the company. That’s despite strong sales of its core line-up such as Saints Row The Third and Homefront.

The firm will now focus on its core line-up, which includes Darksiders II, South Park The Game, InSane, Devil’s Third, Homefront 2, Metro: Last Light, Warhammer 40k: Dark Millennium and WWE and UFC titles.

In better news, THQ announced last week that it expects to beat its sales expectations.
