Russia pulls Modern Warfare 2 from sale?

Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3 has been recalled from store shelves in Russia, according to internet reports.

A translation found at Hellforge claims that the Russian government has recalled the game due to the controversial airport level, in which gamers play the role of an undercover CIA operative who becomes involved in a massacre at a Russian airport.

The reports go on to say that Infinity Ward has released a patch for the PC version of the title, which removes the offending level from the game. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 and PS3 titles are being re-released without the scene.

The level has caused uproar already, with religious figures condemning the game on BBC TV yesterday.

We’ve contacted Activision for confirmation of the reports.
