Ryse: Son of Rome will include multiplayer microstransactions

Players will be able to buy booster packs for the multiplayer mode in Microsoft’s Roman-themed Xbox One launch game.

The Crytek-developed Ryse: Son of Rome will allow players to buy better armour or items that will help them customise their characters, according to VideoGamer.

The system is said to be similar to that of Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer or FIFA Ultimate Team’s booster packs. Gold earned in-game during multiplayer matches can be spend on three tiers of add-on packs – Bronze, Silver or Gold – and the more expensive are more likely to contain rare armour or items.

However, the platform holder says it has made sure players won’t have to spend more than they need to on these booster packs.

A Microsoft producer told VideoGamer: "One of the things we did a little different is that you can buy them with in-game currency and real world currency. The difference is that if you’re close, we also have small microtransaction

"Say, for instance, a Gold pack costs 15,000 gold [and] you’ve only got 12,500. You can actually buy the difference and only spend a little bit to make it go to a Gold pack."
