Star Citizen crowdfunding total hits $50m

More than $50 million has been donated to Cloud Imperium Games for the development of upcoming space exploration title Star Citizen.

One of the most high-profile examples of crowd-funding, the title has now generated $51,075,243 from 525,131 backers, according to the game’s website.

That’s an increase of $10m in the last six months, suggesting the seemingly endless flow of cash could be slowing slightly when you think that the studio received $4m in two months at the tail end of last year.
