Steam has amassed more than 50 million users, Sega’s VP of digital distribution has said.
Speaking at the London Games Conference 2012, John Clark revealed that Valve’s digital distribution service had also reached five million peak concurrent users.
Other interesting stats for the platform included the Big Picture mode beta, which has grown to 500,000 subscribers since its launch in September this year.
Big Picture is designed to allow users to display Steam on their TV’s, also enabling them to control the platform through a keyboard and mouse or game controller.
Steam Workshop meanwhile, which allows users to create their own content and items for games on the store, has garnered more than 300,000 items, with a total 106 million community contributions.
The news that Steam has 50 million users suggests that EA has gained significant ground on Valve’s digital service, with Origin having grown to 30 million users itself as of October.
