What are numbers if not indicators of success? Exactly that, it seems as the juggernaut that is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues to dominate the PC landscape.
According to recent figures from SteamSpy, the battle royale game had continued to rise in sales, now boasting over 15.5 million units. For comparison, that is at least 3 million more in the last month. That’s not all though as the game, which has already surpassed Dota 2‘s concurrent player record on steam, continues to smash it, exceeding 2 million concurrent players today.

Of course the game has achieved an amazing following both with critics and with content creators, making it an almost synonymous title with the battle royale genre It has also made Bluehole’s founder, Chang Byung-gyu a billionaire on paper, leading to the developer spinning off a new company, PUBG Inc. However another game is beginning to see success too.
Fortnite by Epic Games, who are also the engine provider for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has continued to gain in popularity since the release of its own free battle royale mode. This past Sunday, the battle royale game mode hit 525,000 peak concurrent users and 3.7 million daily users. This has brought the game up to a total of 10 million players since its launch two weeks ago.
In two weeks since we’ve launched, over 10 million of you have played Battle Royale. We can’t say thank you enough. https://t.co/v39jBGe9qd pic.twitter.com/pkC7fhdl4K

Where will this stop? By all accounts, the numbers will continue to rise, especially with the continued interest of the game as an esport growing. Will we ever get sick of chicken dinners? It doesn’t seem that we will.
