THQ Relic studio head jumps ship for Activision

Relic Entertainment studio head Alex Peters as left the studio to join up with publishing giant Activision.

According to Peters’ LinkedIn profile, the developer has taken on the role of VP of production at the publisher, although it is not clear yet exactly what his role might entail.

Peters has worked at an array of developers during his 18+ years in the game industry, including the likes of Bullfrog, EA DICE and Propaganda Games.

Relic Entertainment is currently part of the THQ auction, in which a number of gaming’s biggest companies are looking to purchase various assets from the publisher, including individual IP, tech and studios.

The Canada-based studio was founded in 1997, and has developed titles including Homeworld, the Company of Heroes series and a number of entries in the Warhammer franchise.

Rumours currently suggest that Sega is in pole position to land Relic Entertainment, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Details of the THQ auction are expected to be disclosed today.
