Transformers: Devastation is Platinum’s mystery game

Bayonetta and Vanquish developer Platinum Games is turning its hands to the robots in disguise, a leak has revealed.

Following on from the publication of stills from the title on Pure Xbox, Destructoid reports that a retail listing has confirmed that the studio is currently working on Transformers: Devastation, which is to be published by Activision.

The game will draw on the original Transformers cartoons for its characters and visuals, featuring the likes of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Grimlock and Wheeljack as playable characters. Confirmed villains include Decepticon leader Megatron and the combiner Devastator.

Furthermore, actors from the original series are set to reprise their voice roles including Peter Cullen (Optimus), Frank Weller (Megatron and Soundwave) and Dan Gilvezan (Bumblebee).

Autobots face off against the Decepticons when Megatron discovers a way to harness the enormous power of plasma energy to cyberform Earth,” the description reads.

Platinum Games’ signature fast action allows instant robot to vehicle attacks, slam downs, counter attacks and infinite combos for a unique master combat system. Five levels of difficulty also deliver hours of intense gameplay.

All of which probably means that the rumoured Vanquish 2 reveal is now looking unlikely.
