Tretton "opposed to blocking used games"

Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton has admitted that he personally does not support the idea of potentially blocking the use of pre-owned games on next-gen consoles.

Rumours have claimed that both the Next Xbox and PS4 will utilise measures that prevent consumers from using game discs previously purchased by someone else.

That Videogame Blog says the exec admitted that he was opposed to blocking used games” adding that pre-owned is great for consumers” and any moves to block the trade would be anti-consumer”.

However, there’s a big caveat. Tretton stressed that his view is entirely personal and admitted that his overlords in Japan might think something different”.

And considering that Tretton is likely to have a firm grasp on what SCEJ is thinking, this is surely the biggest indication yet that anti pre-owned tech WILL be included in PS4?
