UK CHARTS: Assassins Creed holds off next-gen challenge

EA’s Need for Speed: Pro Street might have shifted up a gear in the ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 this week as it prepares for its campaign to capture the Christmas Number One crown, but Ubisoft’s popular Middle East-themed outing is holding tight in the next-gen console race.

Assassin’s Creed retains the top spot in both the Xbox 360 and PS3 Individual Format Charts this week, courtesy of ChartTrack.

Need for Speed: Pro Street does manage to claim second spot in the PS3 listings, and third spot in the Xbox 360 Top Ten, behind Activision’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Elsewhere in the next-gen format charts, Eidos’ Kane & Lynch: Dead Men does well, claiming fourth spot in the PS3 list and sixth in the 360 chart. The only other new entry in the two charts is Midway’s Blacksite: Area 51, which enters the Xbox 360 race at number 14.
