Space 'very limited' for viewings of the next-gen tech

Unreal Engine 4 demo at GDC

Epic Games will "unveil a preview" of its next-generation game technology, Unreal Engine 4, at GDC in San Francisco, the company has announced.

The North Carolina studio says "space is very limited, and appointments and non-disclosure agreements are required to see the Unreal Engine 4 presentation".

The showcase will be available to "select licensees, partners and prospective customers".

The new game engine, masterminded by Epic founder Tim Sweeney, has been in development since 2003. It will very likely support next generation consoles such as Wii U, PlayStation 4 and the successor to the Xbox 360.

Epic recently revealed to Develop that it would support mobile games studios much sooner with Unreal Engine 4 than it had with the engine’s predecessor.

The company will be out in force at the San Francisco event, with board members Sweeney and Rein booked for talks with various studios.

Meanwhile, design director Cliff Bleszinski will be hosting the Game Developer Choice Awards as well as taking stage to give a game design lecture.
