VIDEO: First official trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Konami has released a five-minute trailer for the freshly announced Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The game, which had been previously announced under two separate guises in the form of MGS: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, is due out on PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

Is a PS4 release in the works? Who’s to say, but the Ground Zeroes trailer released in September certainly looks next-gen to us. E3 announcement?

"Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots has been a phenomenal success and one of the most highly regarded titles of all time,” Konami president Shinji Hirano stated.

"We are confident that the Fox Engine will both expand and revolutionise the Metal Gear Solid series, and will provide the customary high-quality and immersive experiences that are associated with all titles produced by Kojima Productions.”

The video, which can be seen below, shows the fall of Mother Base and ties in lots of the imagery teased in the various trailers up to this point.
