Virgin Media confirmed as PS4’s UK broadband partner

Sony has announced a strategic partnership with Virgin Media, naming the firm as PlayStation 4’s official UK ISP partner.

During its Gamescom conference this evening, the platform holder said that it recognises broadband is not readily available to all European customers, so it is forming similar partnerships with Internet Service Providers such as Deutsch Telecom, Orange and Ono.

Virgin Media will work closely with Sony to help as many PS4 users as possible access the next-generation console’s online services.

The firm is keeping full details of the deal under wraps for the moment, but it will start by helping Sony demonstrate the PlayStation 4 at Eurogamer Expo next month, as well as the Virgin Media Games Space which opens next week.
