Wii Guitar Hero to get more physical

Activision boss Bobby Kotick has hinted that the Guitar Hero series is set to take a different direction on Wii than on other consoles – and that the firm is working on better utilising the physical experience” of the console.

Speaking to Conde Nast, Kotick said the same principle applied to Star Wars and fishing games and, most tellingly, said the firm was in the very, very earliest stage of physical interface”.

When asked ‘What else is in the works with other games?’, Kotick replied:

Let’s take Wii. There are opportunities to add to the physical experience, whether it’s guitars or the Star Wars game—in which you have a lightsaber—or fishing.

"Having that physical connection with what you see on the screen is bringing in audiences that never would have tried games. But we’re in the very, very earliest stage of physical interface.”
