Windows Phone 8 launches October 29th

Windows Phone 8 is set to launch worldwide on October 29th, Microsoft has announced.

The release will come just days after the computing giant rolls out its latest operating system in the form of Windows 8, which launches on October 26th.

A special press event for the release of Windows 8 will take place on October 25th in New York, whilst a Windows Phone 8 event is set for October 29th in San Francisco.

It is believed the first phones to be powered by the mobile OS will be released in early November.

The Microsoft Surface tablet meanwhile will also be released at midnight on October 25th alongside Windows 8 across its website and stores. Prices for the tablet however have yet to be revealed.
