Revenues grow across computing firm as devices and consumer hardware division generates nearly $2bn in revenue

Xbox One sold 1.2m units during the last quarter

Microsoft sold 1.2 million Xbox One consoles during the three months ending March 31st.

In its latest financial report, the computing firm revealed overall it had sold two million Xbox consoles during the period.

To date the firm has shipped five million Xbox Ones to retail, but it has yet to reveal overall sales. Sony meanwhile has sold seven million PS4s, and just under three million of those consoles in the last quarter alone, around double that of the Xbox One.

Revenue for its Surface tablet also grew 50 per cent to $500 million.

Microsoft’s devices and consumer hardware division, which houses Xbox, generated nearly $2 billion for the three months ending March 31st, up almost $600m from the same period last year.

Revenue for the nine months ending March 31st reached $8.2bn, up from the $5.3bn during the same timespan the year prior.

Overall Microsoft reported revenues of $20.4bn for the quarter, with net income standing at $5.66bn.
