XCOM: Enemy Unknown hits iOS this week at a relatively beefy price

Firaxis XCOM: Enemy Unknown hits iOS devices this Thursday, and it doesn’t intend to fit into the mobile platform pricing mold.

The game will run for $19.99 and works on iPad 2 and beyond, iPhone4S and beyond, and fifth generation iPod touch devices.

The relatively high price shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who’ve been keeping an eye on the game’s development. Earlier this year Firaxis lead Jake Solomon made it clear what the game would be about: a premium upfront price and no in-app purchases.

The iOS version is promised to deliver the complete PC experience, though head-to-head multiplayer won’t be available at launch – instead coming as a free update sometime down the road.
