You thought Kinect didnt need peripherals?

Kinect’s success in allowing users to play games with nothing other than their body is a remarkable technical achievement and a significant milestone in the history of gaming.

So quite why you’d want to buy an inflatable boat to stand in as you do is, if MCV is being honest, somewhat of a mystery.

But Atomic Games has clearly spied a market opportunity that has eluded us, though, as it lifts the lid on its debut Play On product – the Kinect compatible Game Boat. Honestly.

The box claims that it’s Ideal for Kinect Adventures” (but presumably absolutely nothing else? Apart from maybe Sega Bass Fishing? Or Jaws, Endless Ocean, Hydrophobia, Wetrix, Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer, Silent Hunter, Hydro Thunder, Wave Race, California Games, Undertow, Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray, Battlestations Midway, Heavy Rain, Wind Waker? Ow, BioShock! Echo the Dolphin!!).

It seems as if, once inflated by the gamer using the included practical pump”, it can then be stood in whilst playing a game. Yes, stood in. Not sat in, of course. This is Kinect we’re talking about.

Furthermore, Game Boat can amazingly also be used in the watyr [sic], at the sea or at the pool, by children and adults”.

At a total size of 150x150cm, Atomic also claims that it’s ideal to comfortably play in 2 gamers simultaneously”. That’s two people standing in a boat. In a house, In front of the TV. On a cold British winter’s night. Probably feeling a bit empty and aimless.
