The two ex-Infinity Ward studio heads at the centre of a bitter and protracted legal row have not been paid their bonuses, claims suggest.
Activision media manager Dan Amrich claims that the duo – who were recently fired by Activision management and set up a rival indie outfit – lost their bonuses when they left the studio.
“Vince and Jason had very large bonuses; those bonuses are being redistributed to everybody else, to the people who did not allegedly attempt to steal company secrets,” he said.
Amrich braved the discussion on a public Facebook forum, and appeared sincere in his defence of Activision.
And as part of a broader debate on working conditions at both the publisher and developer, Amrich said that “Activision is not pocketing that bonus money; it’s still going to the people who work at IW.”
Amrich made it clear he thinks Infinity Ward – despite accusations of low morale and, at points, studio breakdown – the company remains a top place to work in.
“I’d think if you are young and hungry and have a vision for a new game, IW would be a really good place to be right now,” he said.
“There are so many young and hungry designers, programmers, and developers out there, and I suspect some of them are already employed at IW, just waiting for their shot. When the dust settles, I expect to see some talented people step up and redefine the studio.”
