Rainbow Six Siege celebrates Year 3 content giving players first 20 operators and attachments for every weapon

Ubisoft has come over all philanthropic with Rainbow Six Siege, with all players being given access to the 20 original operators and the attachments for every gun with a purchase of the game starting with Year 3’s Season 1 content on March 6.

This was revealed at a press conference ahead of the main event of the 2018 Rainbow Six Invitational, and it’s big news for new players and those who don’t have the time or patience for the grind, levelling the playing field and meaning that players don’t need to buy the same attachments for every single gun in the game, which attracted criticism for roping players into an unfun grind.

Now, every version of the game above the PC-only Starter Edition will have access to 20 operators and all of the attachments, while the Starter Edition will now see players given six operators instead of the previous four.

The change is described by game director Alexandre Remy as a move that will make it faster and easier for players looking to start the game, which currently boasts over 27m players and 1m monthly active players.
