Red Faction TV movie planned

THQ has deepened its relationship with TV network Syfy with news of a two-hour Red Faction TV movie, which may act as a pilot for a full series.

In a report on Broadcasting & Cable, Alan Seiffert, senior VP of Syfy Ventures, said, "It is a great fit for a big Syfy Saturday movie, and if it really works, it is a great back-door pilot." In February, Syfy said it would be making a TV show based on THQ’s de Blob. THQ is planning a new Red Faction game in the first half of next year.

The deal goes both ways, with THQ making games based on Syfy reality series GhostHunters Academy (DS, iPhone, iPad). "Both Ghost Hunters and Red Faction are great examples of how we are absolutely committed to gaming, and it is going to be more than just taking the name, it is going to really be part of the overall experience," Seiffert said.

SyFy also recently announced plans for an online free-to-play MMO based on Battlestar Galactica, produced by Bigpoint.
