Report: Steam Big Picture open beta imminent

Steam’s Big Picture mode will hit open beta early this week, if a report from The New York Times is to be believed.

Over the weekend the mainstream news outlet ran a profile piece on Valve, which among other items claimed Valve’s effort to bring PC gaming to the living room will go into open beta testing sometime later today.

The company will begin a public test of a new television-friendly interface, Big Picture, for buying Steam games and playing them on computers in the living room,” the article reads.

The mode, originally announced earlier this year, molds the Steam interface for use on a control pad and adjusts video output for big screen HD televisions.
